I started running on April 2, 2009 using the Couch to 5K program but quickly realized by week 5 this program was a bit difficult and I was struggling getting past the 20 min continuous run. I gave up on it and just continued to do my own thing for a few weeks before coming across iRUN Greenville’s 10 week walk-to-run program which is very similar to Coach Jenny Hadfield’s Zero to Running Plan. Since then, I have raced in over 40 events. In 2010, I did my first sprint triathlon and became hooked ever since and in March 2013, I completed my first half marathon.

2013 Goals
- Finish a 5K in under 30 minutes. I came close in 2011 but somehow got slower in 2012. Hopefully I can find my speed again in 2013! This has been a goal ever since I started running. I just didn’t know how difficult it would be for me to get there.
- ✓ Finish a half marathon. Finished the GHS Swamp Rabbit Half Marathon on March 9, 2013 with a time of 2:32:00.
- Participate in at least 3 triathlons. I’m going to really work on improving my cycling this year as well as my running off the bike and hope to go from a back-of-the-pack finisher to a middle-of-the-pack finisher.
- Have fun! If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, what’s the point, right?
